Well last night Asda’s website collapsed before I managed to make an order and so I have raided the cupboards and am feeling terribly thrift today. I have managed to conjure the following from the cupboard:
- Dinner of Saute Potatoes, Eggs, Black Pudding (from the freezer) and Baked Beans (emergency back up)
- Lasagne, defrosting a box of the random veg I cooked and froze before going on hols added to some frozen Bolognese, the half pack of Lasagne Sheets which fell out of the cupboard was a real bonus.
- Smoky Chickpea soup, made simply by caramelising a load of onions, adding dried chickpeas and smoked paprika and cooking for an age.
So there is masses of food really and I am delaying the order until Friday so that is almost a weeks food eked out of the cupboard.
I should be super pleased with myself at this point but I am feeling a little down though, why? Well it is all down to clothes. We have been so lucky with being lent clothes but we will at long last have to invest in buying some and after F’s sudden growth spurt it is now quite urgent. So I have put a plea on Freecycle and am scouring ebay for bundles, but it is demoralising.
So I have experienced both sides of thrift today the joy and the stress, though all in all I think it is for the best and perhaps there is a shape emerging for this blog.
All in all though it has been a good day the decorations are down which I have found sad and I have been to visit a lovely friend so normality is returning, and all in all that is for the best!!
